New Show Alert!!

New this season is a show (right after by beloved Greys Anatomy on ABC) called Life on Mars. The whole premise is that Sam Tyler (played by Jason O'Mara) an NYPD detective from the year 2008 has had something traumatic happen to him and he winds up 'waking up' in the year 1973! We have absolutely no idea other then knowing that he was hit by a car while trying to find a serial killer what his fate was. Did he die? Is this a bad drug trip? Is he in a coma? No one will know til later this season I suppose. Now, ironically this serial killer he was hunting in the year 2008 is the same serial killer that is starting to run amok in 1973! Maybe he is there to help catch this guy. Either way, I'm definitely having fun watching all the 70's clothing, decoupage, and the crazy lack of rules and discipline for the officers even though the process of sexism is a big problem in the police station. I hope the rest of this season is as good as the first few episodes. Watch the first few episodes on http://abc.go.com/primetime/lifeonmars/index?pn=index.

Other Shows this week...

I wanna get my favorite shows on paper so that I can start talking about the real juicyness! I just had to use my DVR to tape Brothers and Sisters. This show comes on Sunday night right after Desperate Housewives. This show is dramatic yet completely realistic. B and S stands for the crazy relationships between a large family with some pretty common problems. Sally Field is the wonderful mom that stands as the heartbeat for the family as a whole. Gosh lets see, I believe that Brothers & Sisters is returning for a third season this Fall 2008. Executive producers Ken Olin, Greg Berlanti, Monica Owusu-Breen and Alison Schapker have managed to keep the large Walker family through the complicated mess of life today in the United States.
The compelling one-hour drama series is about five Strong adult siblings (whom are minutely disturbed and confused) and their strong but passionately devoted mother, Nora Walker (Sally Field). Such an example is so eloquently phrased by the ABC website onhttp://abc.go.com/primetime/brothersandsisters/index?pn=about
"The Walkers' lives have not been without challenge; romance, parenting, divorce, infidelity, addiction, war and even death have pushed each of them to the limit, but they continue to work toward living their lives as individuals, while loving each other unconditionally and trying to maintain some semblance of normalcy after the loss and lies of their larger-than-life family patriarch, William Walker". This is definitely a show to sink your teeth into!

Do you like Vampires?

Nothing is better than a great new HBO series on vampires during the Halloween season. True Blood is based on a series of books from the mind of Charlaine Harris about Vampires "coming out of the coffin" ( or out in public) in the South of the United States. This new Drama is also coming from the mind of the creater of Six Feet Under, another great HBO series. I have watched all of these episodes thus far and I am in love! The whole idea is that a new synthetic blood, which is bottled like cheap beer, can be purchased to supplement the yearn for vampires to attack humans. Now the whole premace is to see how the vampires and the humans learn to co-exist in the south. This is the perfect opportunity for sex, relationships, and murders to prevail!
The two main characters in this drama are a mind reading waitress, Sookie Stackhouse (played byAnna Paquin) and a more or less sensitive 173 year vampire named Bill Compton (played by Stephen Moyer) that has fallen in love with Sookie! How is this new found love going to work out? The other 'juicy' problem is that the idea of 'fang-bangers' or humans who are having crazy sex escapades with vampires, are dropping like flies. These women are dying and no one is to blame. Could it be the bar manager that Sookie works for and is so obviously in love with her or is it someone we don't know of yet? I cant wait to find out is all I know.
This week aired on October 12th on HBO at 9pm. Sookies Grandmother was killed lying dead on her kitchen floor covered in her own blood when Sookie discovered her. She felt a hand on her shoulder (which I can only imagine was dead cold) and it was sure enough, Bill Compton trying to comfort her. Like I said with Greys, I don't want to give anything away so go watch it. You can watch it on http://www.hbo.com/trueblood/

Desperate Housewives

ABC produces another great show by airing a juicy soap-opera on Sunday nights. Let me tell you that I am not a fan of the cheesy over dramatic acting that comes with your typical daytime soaps, but Desperate Housewives has got me hooked! So the basic premise for those of you who have been missing this fantastic drama is that 5 years ago on a small suburban street called Wisteria Lane, a 'desperate housewife' showed signs of desperation and ended up committing suicide! All of her closest friends are her neighbors on the same street and had no idea what would have caused Mary Alice Young (played by Brenda Strong) to do such a thing. Long story short, the narrator is Mary Alice looking back at all of the people she knew when she was alive and exposing all of the drama to us viewers. The fourth and last season that aired was back in the Spring of 2008 and left us with crazy ending and a burning question. The ending concluded that within a blink of an eye, 5 years passed and no one is the same. The next season Airing just a few weeks ago in the end of September 2008 promised the information that was lacking with the teaser ending from last season.
Thus far, Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher) is a kooky divorcee and mother who has finally married the man of her dreams but for some reason in a five year span is sleeping with someone new; Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman) is the spunky married housewife that was a high powered career woman in an Advertising agency turned cancer survivor and part pizza shop owner; Bree Van de Camp (Marcia Cross) is one of the most uptight characters I have ever seen yet has turned her life from a psychotic mother and widow to a very successful and newly married Catering company owner; lastly, Gabrielle Solis (Eva Longoria) was a stuck-up, size 0 high fashion model unhappily married turned happily married to her 1st and newly blind husband Carlos Solis (played by Ricardo Antonio Chivera) with 2 chunky kids ( she herself is obviously not a size 0 anymore) and without any money.
What has happened on the streets on Wisteria Lane? Julie Bonner is a blogger that only focuses on Desperate Housewives and she has posted some juicy information about the upcoming shows! She states: http://www.desperateblog.com/

"Desperate Housewives 5.05 “Back in Business” airs on October 26th and the night will be full of surprises.
Dave convinces Susan to throw Mrs. McCluskey a surprise party for her 70th birthday. Aw, what a nice guy right? Wrong! He obviously has a hidden agenda and we will soon enough find out what exactly that agenda is.
Gaby is scared that she might be pregnant. Yes, you just read that right…PREGNANT! (Blind sex must be powerful!) I can’t imagine Gaby juggling another child.
Jackson tells Susan that he wants to take their relationship to the next level. If I know Susan as well as I think I do, she’s going to freak. I just don’t think she is ready for “the next level”.
Tom tells Lynette he sold the pizzeria, which I am sure she was thrilled about. Not. We find out what this bond between Katherine is Bree is all about and ABC says it’s “startling”.
Last but not least, Mrs. McCluskey loses it, gets outraged about something and the whole neighborhood thinks she’s nuts.
This sounds like an awesome episode. Can’t wait!!"

I actually love this website because she even does LIVE BLOGGING during the show! How fun is that? I don't know about you but after reading this juicy nugget of information provided by Julie Brennan, I just cant wait til next Sunday! Look up more info on Desperate Housewives at the ABC website here http://abc.go.com/primetime/desperate/index?pn=about

Greys Anatomy

I wait all week long for Thursday nights at 9pm to turn my TV to ABC. I hear that wonderful theme song so eloquently sung by Dido and my heart skips a beat. Ok, ok, not really... But Greys Anatomy is one of my absolute favorite shows, hands down. There is way more then enough drama to keep my interest going. Basically the show is a medical drama that depicts the life (friendships, sexual, personal and business aspects all included) of the surgical interns at Seattle Grace Hospital and their supervisors. The name of the show is derived from the main character named Dr. Meredeth Grey played by Ellen Pompeo and originally (the 1st season was in 2005) her other fellow 4 interns fighting their way through their first year played by Sandra Oh, Katherine Heigl, Justin Chambers, and T.R. Knight. The relationships between these doctors are complicated to say the least and the absolutely unrealistic medical traumas are constantly entertaining. Some of the secondary and tertiary characters include some very good looking supervisors ('McDreamy' played by Patrick Dempsey and the very hot 'McSteamy' played by Eric Dane) that definitely keep my attention.
To make a long story short, in the past seasons these interns have all passed their surgical exams and are resident surgeons with their own interns now. They fight for the most unique surgeries and the attention of the higher positioned doctors. Love and lust is spread throughout almost all of the interactions of the characters in one point or another and there is no shortage of heated arguments. Deaths, tears, sex, love, and adrenaline consistently have pulsed through the veins of Seattle Grace and there is no end to the possibilities of story lines.
This week on Greys...
This episode aired on Thursday October 16th was called "Brave New World." This could be because Dr. Cristina Yang (played by Sandra Oh as a go-get-em cardiologist wanna be) was forced in to taking car of the clinic that only treats cuts and bruises leading her into the relaxing and stress free world of dermatology, or the fact that her best friend Dr. Meredith Grey was imposing on her desired field. It could also be that a newly developed lesbian relationship between a couple of the supervisors that twists the world of the doctors into a new light. Without giving up too many details, I'm gonna leave it to you to check out this kick a** show! For more info, check out the website at http://abc.go.com/primetime/greysanatomy/index?pn=index

What about...?

Lets see, a little about myself. My name is Jackie and I am a student at a local community college in California. I am in my early 20s and try to be pretty active, however I just cant break away from the great world of prime time television shows. It all started this summer when I had knee surgery and was 'forced' to break into my DVD collection and learn to use my DVR. I may not be a paid critic or a journalist but I feel that I have a lot to say about these shows that I have newly come to love and truly enjoy.
For example, Greys Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Madmen, True Blood, and Brothers and Sisters are definitely some of my favorites but the list can go on and on. Who could resist the diverse selection of a crazy lifestyle of doctors working in Seattle Grace Hospital, the dramatic stories of the women living of Wisteria Lane, Vampires "coming out of the coffin" in the South, or a view of what life was like in an advertisement agency in the 1960s for us youngsters. I love that I can take the time to sit down, relax, and sink into a world that is not my own.
I never miss an episode of any of these shows thanks to my wonderful DVR that I recently attained and I think everyone should have at least one show that they should be watching. In the time that these shows are airing, all of you who watch are able to escape from the everyday 'mumbo-jumbo' that causes our stressed out society and an opportunity to enjoy a different (and possibly completely unrealistic) perspective. That break from our own reality is what propels all of us through the hectic work (or school) week! Let me tell you that with all of the papers, labs, and math problems I go though during the week the only thing I wanna do is get a break.
My goal is to post a general background or summary of these shows and their websites so that everyone viewing my wonderful blog (no sarcasm noted) can have a look into some of the seasons best shows from someone who is unbiased and opinionated. Some of these shows have been airing for several seasons and are neck deep in drama and story lines. I cant wait to share with you MY point of view. Get ready because this is gonna be fun!
